Think Out Of The Jewelry ‘Box’

decorative-jewelry-boxesAll little girls should have a jewelry box to call their own. Where else will they put all their tiny trinkets and mementos? Creative girls may even want to make their own jewelry box, or at least paint it. If the little girl in your life has a birthday coming up, don’t buy her a one of those decorative jewelry boxes; get her a plain wooden box that she can decorate on her own.

Make sure that when you’re shopping you also stop and pick up some wood paints and brushes. Put the jewelry box along with the paints and brushes into a gift bag for her to open on her special day. For an extra special touch, include a cute pair of earrings, or a necklace in the box.

Times Are A Changin’

white-gold-opal-ring

Why is that you see so many older women wearing gold rings on every finger? Maybe this is a trend that I just never got wind of because I prefer to wear simple, yet classic pieces of jewelry. My favorite piece of jewelry is a white gold and opal ring that my father gave me. I love the creamy, shimmering white of the opal and the neat shine of the silver backing.

I feel confident in saying that I think many other younger women are like me in that they don’t want to wear gaudy, bulky jewelry. Wearing just one or two pieces of classic jewelry can get you more compliments than 20 cheaply-made gold rings. Many women these days are also gravitating away from traditional gems, like diamonds and pearls, towards rare gems, like opals and emeralds.

14k-gold-bracelet

Gold is a mainstay in jewelry. The value of gold is measured by karat. A higher karat gold is not necessarily higher quality than a lower karat gold.

A 14k gold bracelet is said to be better that an 18k bracelet. It is said that 14k is more durable because the gold is not too soft. Because 14k is harder than 18k, it is less likely to scratch and be deformed. Thus, it is the better choice.

marquise-diamond-ringThinking of a beautiful ring for your lady? Then a marquise diamond ring might be the perfect ring for her. A marquise is actually a lady of nobility that ranks higher than a countess and lower than a duchess. A marquise exudes elegance and style.

This is so with this marquise jewelry design. It is known for its elegant design. If your lady prefers classic styles over trendy ones, then this is the design for her.
