Birth stones are a tradition that assigns a precious stone to a person’s month of birth in the Gregorian calendar, which is the most widely used calendar in the world. Each month is symbolized by the stone assigned to it. Sometimes this is called the birthday stone, but that term is rarely used because of how confusing it is with anniversary presents. Sapphire rings are a common birthstone present that is still a crowd favorite.
There is a poem that goes along with each month and the stones that are used in English speaking countries tend to be the same. Here are a list of months and their birthstone equivalents:
